The Coarsegold Resource Conservation District (CRCD) is currently seeking applications for a highly motivated Program Manager to assist in the management of implementation and development of current and future projects. This position is 100% grant funded and is a flexible 30-40 hour/week schedule with some weekend and evening duties.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to, researching and applying for new grants, creating projects to fit the deliverables of current and future grants, collaborating with other staff members to grow our Firewise communities within Eastern Madera County, implement annual fuel reduction activities to complete defensible space and reduce wildfire hazards, increase and elevate outreach and education on Fire Safety and Pollinator principals and sustain our programs through diverse funding opportunities, sponsorships and partnerships. The incumbent will also be working on a team to develop, promote, and implement resource management measures that complement our organizations current and future grant deliverables, such as forest, range and pasture management, fire prevention, erosion and sediment control, and habitat restoration.

 

Other responsibilities include assisting with writing grant proposals and managing administrative aspects of current grants, participating on technical advisory committees, presenting at educational and training events and working collaboratively with partner organizations and agencies to provide input on technical documents and reports.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Desire to embrace and achieve the mission of the RCD: To promote, protect, and improve the diverse natural resources of Eastern Madera County
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with diverse groups and stakeholders including landowners, growers, industry representatives, researchers, nonprofits, public agencies, and citizens
  • Experience with public speaking and Power Point presentations, including agenda development and meeting facilitation both in person and via Zoom or Teams
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and educational programs to landowners, helping them voluntarily create defensible space in a high fire danger zone
  • Computer proficiency, in particular Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software with the ability to create and edit concise tracking documents, public outreach materials and engaging slide or video presentations
  • Ability to work remotely and independently from home or other locations and as part of a team, including excellent time management and the ability to meet grant reporting deadlines
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment in the planning, design and implementation of conservation projects and take initiative in fulfilling programmatic and grant related obligations
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions doing routine project site maintenance including, but not limited to, weed eating, pulling weeds, planting, using small power tools, and participating in burn piles/
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and multitasking ability

 

  • Highly motivated and self-directing and the ability to prioritize and coordinate workload
  • Ability to follow direction and work cooperatively with others, including partner organizations
  • Valid California Driver’s License , proof of insurance and clean driving record

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with ARCGIS and
  • Knowledge of natural resource conservation principles and science, specifically forestry, erosion, storm water runoff, and/or native plant and animal communities.
  • Knowledge of wildland fire prevention and mitigation, fire behavior and authoritative fire agencies/organizations
