Coarsegold Resource Conservation District is excited to announce that we were selected by the California Fire Safe Council as a recipient of a 2022 CAL FIRE County Coordinator Southern Region Grant Award. The objective of this grant project is to educate, encourage, and develop county-wide collaboration and coordination among all wildfire mitigation groups and stakeholders in our county. We are looking forward to assisting Madera County build effective wildfire networks and improve wildfire safety and resiliency for all.
It is important for agency collaboration throughout the county. Resident participation is another key part of CRCD’s Fire prevention efforts. CRCD can now offer free Wildland Fire Home Assessments (WFAP) to residents of Eastern Madera County that want to learn more about defensible space and home hardening. CRCD hopes to share fire prevention education and work with communities to collaborate with their neighbors in fire prevention planning through programs such as NFPA’s Firewise USA® program. By working together, we can all do our part to improve fire safety in Eastern Madera County.
Funding for this project was provided by a grant from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as part of the California Climate Investments Program, through the California Fire Safe Council.
The 2022 County Coordinator Southern Region grant, a program of the Community Wildfire Preparedness Project, is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing GHG emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment– particularly in disadvantaged communities. The Cap-and- Trade program also creates a financial incentive for industries to invest in clean technologies and develop innovative ways to reduce pollution. California Climate Investments projects include affordable housing, renewable energy, public transportation, zero-emission vehicles, environmental restoration, more sustainable agriculture, recycling, and much more. At least 35 percent of these investments are located within and benefiting residents of disadvantaged communities, low-income communities, and low-income households across California.
